Im Rahmen des Oberseminars Computerlinguistik findet am 24.4.2024 ein Vortrag statt,
zu dem wir herzlich einladen möchten.

Vortragender:

Dr. Ruvan Weerasinghe (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka)

Zeit:

Mittwoch, 24.4.2024, 16:15-17:45 Uhr

Ort:

Bismarckstr. 12, R.0.320

Thema:

Title: From Grammar models to Large Language Models: Where do we go now?

Abstract:

In this talk the presenter will try to trace the path that computational language
modeling has taken over the past 3 to 4 decades, what we’ve learned along
the way and how this learning can help in fast tracking the computational
processing of the rest of the large number of human languages currently
left behind. While the temptation is to take such languages through the
arduous path through which many of the European languages have trod, the presenter
will argue that there are other ways of employing the learnings of processing
such languages to help the rest of the languages, which usually have very
low digital resources, to help fast track their journey into computational
linguistics.
